I am on vacation this week. My goal is to get the dash pad in and the stereo system installed. I did the dash pad yesterday, so now I have the rest of the week to get the stereo installed.

I have a limited amount of space for subwoofers, so I had to use 8 inch speakers. Anything larger simply won't fit. I could have put a box in the trunk, but I don't want to clutter up the inside of the trunk with a speaker box. So far I have the 2 speakers installed. In a few days I hope to hook up the rest of the system to see how it sounds. I don't know a lot about car stereos, but I have been told that the speakers that I have won't sound too good without a box around the back of them. If the sound quality is lacking, I may have to take the speakers back out and make boxes on the back side. The problem is that, because of the location of the spare tire (see second picture below), there isn't hardly any room to make boxes for the speakers. According to the speaker manufacture, the size of the box must be .3 cubic feet. My next post will show the final installation, with details on what speakers, amp, and radio, I am using.

This picture shows the speakers from inside the car. The back seat will quiet the speakers some, but because I want to keep the system as stealth as possible, I have no choice but to do it this way.

I put the spare tire from my 62 Country Sedan wagon in the correct location for the spare tire, for mock-up purposes. As you can see there isn't much room for a box around those speakers.
