No photo available.  481. VIN 2G65X190026, BODY 76A, COLOR E, TRIM 32, DATE 01F, DSO 32, AXLE 6, TRANS 1
Comments: Rough body, excellent running gears. Engine out of 1970 Mercury Monterey. Only 23000 mi. Needs quarter panel, floor pans. I’ve been trying to save it for 25 years. We have had it since late 60s. I have lots of new parts and not enough money. Still trying. Maybe someday. Submitted 10/11/2011.

The car is stock except for a 4bbl carb and dual exhausts. It spent its prior years in Manteca, Ca The car is in very good condition and original. It’s a lot of fun to drive with the OVERDRIVE trans. Additional note from Richard.
“I registered my car last night and mailed a picture this morning. I went through the whole Registry and I would like to ask you or the members a few questions. I thought that the 62 Galaxies with the 406 came from the factory with the Borg Warner T-85 overdrive as standard and the T-10 was a option. Also the tri-powered cars were all shipped with a 4-bbl and that the tri-power set up was shipped in the trunk to be put on at the dealership. Do all F.E. motors with overdrive have the T-85 trans ? My 352 has a T-85 in it.”

Registry response:
Rich, I’m not sure about the T-85 vs the T-10 but will try to find out. Yes, it is my understanding that the 3-two barrel carburetor setup came shipped in the trunk and was installed by the dealership.

486. VIN 2U67X145151, BODY 65A, COLOR F, TRIM 82, DATE 14D, DSO 22, AXLE 1, TRANS 4
Options: Built with Power Steering, Push Button Radio, Padded Dash and Visors, 750 x 14 WSW tires, Backup Lights and Clock.
Comments: Bought on ebay Oct 2011. Owned in Virginia. Submitted by Gerry & Jan Smith, 11/23/2011.

Registry comments: This is a fine example of the 500/XL two door hardtop. This owner is fortunate to have found and preserved two very nice build sheets but note the discrepancy in them. The Model Series Code, 67, in the VIN is correct for the Galaxie 500/XL Club Victoria. The (MODEL) BODY CODE however, 65A, is incorrect. 65A is the BODY CODE for the standard, bench seat, Club Victoria. The correct BODY CODE should be 65B. Errors such as this are rare, but not uncommon and even occur on some VIN plates.

490. VIN 2G63B208121, BODY 65A, COLOR M, TRIM 35, DATE 30G, DSO 35, AXLE 5, TRANS 5
Options: Holley 6-Pack, and that's all I know, as I pulled it from my Dads Barn last week. (12-23-2011)
Comments: Has been sitting in my Dad’s barn for over 40 years, very little rust, seems quite solid, and I am confused by the carbs seeing as the VIN tells me it’s supposed to be a 4 bbl car, but Dad says its original with the 406 6-pack? Submitted by David Logan, 01/02/2012.

Registry comment: The VIN may have been stamped incorrectly, the wrong carburetor setup may have been loaded into the trunk at the factory or……..???
For the six bbl 406 cars, the manifold and carburetor setup came in the trunk and was installed by the dealer. It was not installed at the assembly plant, in your case, Chicago.

491. VIN 2W51G131914, BODY 62B, COLOR V, TRIM 21, DATE 23D, DSO 33, AXLE 9, TRANS 5
Options: 406/405 horsepower,4 speed transmission,4:11 rear, AM radio, heater
Comments: Car is in very nice condition and getting better all the time. New front end, brakes, suspension, Galaxie 500 interior, professionally rebuilt 406 engine, tri-power setup reconditioned by Holley, Thrush-D wheels and more. While only a handful of G-code Galaxie Club Sedans seem to exist today, it is my opion that it is extremely rare that you find one that was born with the new Chestnut color for 1962. 498. VIN 2E65X248478, BODY 76A, COLOR X, TRIM 34, DATE 20G, DSO 11, AXLE 3, TRANS 4
Comments: Just purchased from I believe the second owner based out of New Jersey. The Registration Certificate from New Hampshire is recorded as a New Registration when the state introduced registration of vehicles. I believe this to appear as if it was from the original owner a Mr. Michael Martin from Middleton NH. The vehicle was housed in a garage for the last few years by the previous owner who lost interest. Submitted by Martin Rousseau, 04/29/2012.

Options: AM radio, reverse lights, and 2 speed wipers.
Comments :The original owner of this car drove it until he passed away. Then his son drove it until he passed away, at which time it was parked in a garage. The car sat there for at least 15 years. I bought the car from the grandson of the original owner. It has around 136,000 miles. I have done a lot of work to the car since I bought it and hope to get it roadworthy enough to drive it the 500 plus miles to the 2012 Galaxie Nationals in Branson Missouri.
